Teen Leaders Program

Teen Leaders are elected by their teen club peers to serve as role models and organizers for Teen Club’s events. They help build a positive local peer support network.

Teen Leaders work with adult health workers and volunteers to plan and implement activities and the monthly Teen Club meetings.

They also are responsible for:

  • getting members to attend meetings regularly
  • serving as role models in their adherence to ARV medications
  • having a commitment to zero-transmission lifestyles
  • planning and helping to run teen club activities

Teen Leaders are elected annually by their peers, and meet two weeks prior to every Teen Club event to debrief from past events and plan for upcoming club events; they’ve also independently drafted a set of rules for the general meetings.
